Joshua Tree National Park is located just north of Palm Springs, CA including parts of the Mojave and Colorado Deserts. A group of Mormon travelers named the Yucca plant after the biblical leader Joshua when he held up his arms until the Israelites conquered the Canaanites. This park offers camping, hiking, rock climbing, biking and many other recreational activities. This national park is also famous for hosting the Burning Man Musical Festival.
